I’ve got some good news and some great news. I’ll start with the great news first: After a tenure of 51⁄2 years, Friday, April 25 will be my last day at Promo Marketing magazine. I’ve accepted a new position as a writer at an ad agency. So, herein is my final entry to my three-month stint as a PromoMarketing.com blogger (well, I suppose the part about the end of the blog might be the only bad news).
But, here’s the good news: Although I will no longer be a full-time staff editor at Promo Marketing, I will, however, continue writing for the magazine as a freelancer. So, I’ll be kinda, sorta gone, but not entirely …
When I first came to Promo Marketing in November 2002 (back then, it was called Promotional Marketing), I had not a clue of what promotional products were, much less the industry that housed them. But over the years, I have gained so much from this industry that I believe I’ve become a better person for it. For starters, where else can a gal go on a business trip and come away with oodles of goodies to feed, clothe and pamper herself, her friends and her family???? (LOL!)
On a more serious note, the personal and professional relationships I’ve developed over the years are priceless. A big shout-out to my dear friend Becky Blair at Geiger (formerly of Dunbrooke); a big shout-out to Caleb and Ann Law at Ballanda (I’ll be making that trip very soon); and big shout-outs to the tireless Ann Lardner at PPAI, to the kind attendant in the Media Lounge at the PPAI Expo, to Charley Johnson at SnugZ USA, to my Promo Marketing colleagues and to a host of others (you know who you are). (This is starting to sound like an acceptance speech at somebody’s awards ceremony).
It’s been a fantastic run here at Promo Marketing. I will genuinely miss the day-to-day interaction with all of you. And, as is our custom to say here on this blog…
‘Til we chat again …
